The Technology Related Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities [aka the TRAID Project], is a federally funded and Justice Center administered, loan closet and resource center for people in need of assistive technology to increase their ability to live and work independently. TRAID’s mission is to coordinate statewide activities to increase access to, and acquisition of, assistive technology in the areas of education, employment, community living and information technology/telecommunications. The Justice Center supports 12 regional TRAID Centers [RTCs], where staff provide information, training, device demonstration, device reuse, device exchange and device loans as well as technical assistance and advocacy on how to obtain and use assistive technology services and devices. CP of Ulster county is proud to be a Regional Traid Center for over 15 years. We service Ulster, Orange, Putnam and Dutchess Counties and have hundreds of items for loan at our Tuytenbridge location to maximize communication, fine and gross motor and cognitive functioning. In addition to our on-site loan closet, TRAID coordinates two Early Intervention mobile lending libraries in Orange and Dutchess Counties.
This July and August we are featuring several AT items to help ALL people participate in summer fun!
Come check out our over-sized playing cards, our pronged cutting board and adapted knife and our switch adapted bubble machine. To loan these items, and many more, please contact Andrea Abramovich, Regional TRAID Center Coordinator at 845-336-7235 etc. 2129.
